The earthquake also affected neighboring countries such as Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus, Greece and Israel, especially Syria, a neighboring country of Turkey. The Syrian National News Agency quoted the Syrian Ministry of Health as saying that as of now, the earthquake has caused at least 326 deaths and 1,042 injuries in the provinces of Aleppo, Latakia, Hama, and Tartus.

According to reports, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad held an emergency meeting on the morning of the 6th to discuss the damage caused by the earthquake and the response measures. The Syrian government has mobilized relevant departments and provinces to carry out a series of operations including treating the wounded, finding trapped persons, providing emergency assistance to the people, and clearing up debris.

The Associated Press also added that the quake killed at least 47 people in areas controlled by Syrian rebels.

According to public information, in the past year, there have been 109 earthquakes of magnitude 6 or above in the world, including 98 of magnitude 6.0 to 6.9, 11 of magnitude 7.0 to 7.9, and 0 above magnitude 8.0. This earthquake is the largest earthquake. The U.S. Geological Survey told CNN that the magnitude of the quake was extremely rare and it was the most powerful earthquake to hit Turkey since 1939. Another 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Turkey, killing more than 1,200 people in Turkey and Syria.

On behalf of all GME employees, I would like to express my deep condolences to the victims of the earthquake, and hope that Turkey and Syria can overcome the impact of the disaster and rebuild their homes as soon as possible.

What should we pay attention to when we encounter an earthquake?

1. Protect the safety of yourself and your family!

The violent shaking during an earthquake is about 1 minute. Please hide under a solid table, platform, etc. to protect your head.

2. When an earthquake occurs, the fire source should be turned off immediately! If there is a fire, put it out immediately!

Closing the fire source can prevent the disaster from expanding. It should be a habit to turn off the fire source immediately even if it is a small earthquake.

3. Don't run outside in a panic!

Running outside indiscriminately is very dangerous. Please carefully check the surrounding situation, and then act calmly.

4. Open the door to secure the exit!

Concrete-built apartments, etc., sometimes have doors that can't be opened due to the shaking of the earthquake. Please open the door to ensure exit.

5. When outdoors, protect your head and avoid dangerous objects!

When an earthquake occurs outdoors, attention should be paid to the collapse of walls and the falling of window glass or signboards. Take refuge in a safe building or in a nearby larger place.

6. Take calm actions in accordance with the instructions of the staff in department stores, theaters and other places!

7. Cars park on the left, and driving is prohibited in the restricted area!

Please act on the information on the car radio.

8. Pay attention to landslides, cliff collapses and tsunamis!

When you are in dangerous areas such as landslides, cliff collapses, and tsunamis, you should take refuge immediately.

9. Please evacuate on foot, and keep your belongings to a minimum!

The use of automobiles will cause congestion and hinder fire fighting, rescue, and ambulance activities.

10. Don't believe rumors, please act on correct information!

When a disaster occurs, it is easy to be confused by rumors. Please act according to the information issued by the reporting agency, district, municipality, fire department, and police.
