Magnets are composed of iron, cobalt, nickel and other atoms, the internal structure of the atom is relatively special, itself has a magnetic moment, we often use it to absorb some small things. We all know that magnets are used to suck things. In fact, they have another function, that is, guiding the way.

In ancient China, people used this special function of magnet to invent Sinan, and then evolved into a compass, so as not to get lost in the forest. Here, we  will show you a few tips, so that you can find your way home when lost. The north pole of the magnetic needle points to the geographical north pole, and this  can be used to distinguish the direction.

We can suspend the midpoint of a strip magnet with thin lines. When it is still, its ends point to the south and north of the earth.

Imagine the earth as a large magnet, the earth's geomagnetic North Pole is the geographical S pole, and the geomagnetic South Pole is the geograohical N Pole. Between the magnet and the magnet, like poles repel each other while opposite poles attract. Which means, the compass points to the geographical north/ south pole , in fact, it points to the  geomagnetic south Pole/ north pole.
