The coating treatment of the Nd-Fe-B magnet is mainly aimed at the special working environment of the magnet. For example, the working environment of the motor magnet and magnetic rod is relatively humid, so the surface coating treatment is needed. At present, the main plating methods of Nd-Fe-B magnets are zinc plating, nickel plating, black nickel plating, colored zinc plating, nickel plating, copper-nickel plating, gold plating, silver plating, epoxy resin plating, etc.
The coating treatment of the Nd-Fe-B magnet depends on different plating processes according to its use characteristics and preservation methods. The most common plating processes are galvanizing and nickel plating. The surface color of each plating layer is different. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages.
Galvanizing: The surface looks silvery white, can do 12-48 hours salt spray, can be used in some glue bonding, (such as AB glue) if electroplated, it can be stored for two to five years, the advantage is that the price is relatively low.
Black zinc plating: according to customer requirements, the product surface is treated to black. In the plating process, mainly on the basis of zinc plating, a black protective film is added through a chemical treatment. This film can also protect the product, increase salt spray time and prolong oxidation time. But the surface is vulnerable to scratches and loses its protective effect.
Nickel plating: It looks like stainless steel gloss. It is difficult to be oxidized on the surface of stainless steel in the air. It has a good appearance and gloss. The plating can pass a 12 - 72 hours salt spray test. Its disadvantage is that it can not be bonded with some glue, which will make the coating fall off and accelerate oxidation. Now the market is mostly nickel-copper-nickel. This kind of plating method makes 120-200 hours of salt spray, but its plating cost is relatively high.
Gold-plated silver: mostly used in magnetic jewelry, magnetic jewelry are golden yellow, silver-white mostly. Gold-plated magnets look as beautiful as gold. They are usually used in the handwear industry. Our products can also be gold-plated for magnetic handwear.
Epoxy Resin Plating: Magnets are coated with resin paint after nickel plating. Its greatest advantage is that the salt spray test time can be prolonged.
